A fatal chain reaction on Interstate 70 was instigated by a semi-truck whose driver did not have the proper permits for his oversized load. When the burdened tractor trailer collided with a construction barrier it was pushed into oncoming traffic.

Initially, the Bronx police ticketed the man for not carrying his permit with him, but they later discovered that the driver did not have the appropriate endorsements on his permit on file at his company. The truck load exceeded the width and weight specified because he was delivering an asphalt machine to a city toad project.

He was within two-tenths of a mile from his destination when the truck accident occurred.

The truck accident required the road to be shut for several hours while the emergency services were trying to rescue the people involved in the accident. The road also remained closed while the investigators were trying to identify the actual cause of the crash.

The police have not currently released the name of the man who died in the accident. This is thought to be to allow the man’s family to be notified.

The Brooklyn driver was driving on the northbound carriage way. Eye witness reports have said that he was driving erratically. A traffic incident involving an ammunition truck was very worrying for onlookers, observed a witness. The accident resulted in the road at the Fort Smith Junction to be closed for most of the day on Wednesday.

The truck which was carrying around 28,000 lbs. of explosives was involved in a dangerous traffic accident which put many lives at risk. The explosives were being transported from the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant.

Police were first called to the scene of the accident. However, as the police explain, the accident was much more serious than most. The accident involved a fairly large quantity of explosives. For this reason a specialist team needed to travel from Fort Sill in order to take a look at the load and make sure that it was safe.

A 16-year old youth died as a result of injuries sustained in a truck accident. The accident occurred March 28 at about 8:30 p.m. As the young man was crossing the street, a recycling truck was making a turn and then struck the youth within moments afterwards. The 54-year old truck driver immediately stopped and dialed 911. When the first responders arrived, they stabilized the youth and then transported him to Newark Wayne Community Hospital. The hospital staff did all that they could to treat the injured teens severe head wounds, but those injuries were too severe. The 16-year old, high school sophomore later died. Accidents like this are rare in The Bronx and Brooklyn.

A police spokesman indicated to a reporter that while their investigation is ongoing, as a result of their investigative efforts thus far they have determined that neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have been a factor. They have also investigated the truck for any indications of mechanical failure, and have found nothing wrong with the truck. The fact that it was dark and the youth was crossing the street outside of a designated crosswalk continues to be looked at. By all indications thus far into the investigation, this appears to have been a tragic accident.

As part of our investigative coverage, a source also learned from the local high school principal, that the entire school in this small community was in a state of shock. As a credit to the local school system, when administrators first learned of the tragedy, they collaborated both internally, and with counselors so they could be prepared to provide assistance to those students who would have questions about the incident. Fortunately, they were prepared and had a staff of counselors available when students returned to class. The principal went on to add that, “He was a student who had a great sense of humor, had a lot of energy and had a lot of friends as a result. We’re all going to miss him very much.”

Two 18-year old, Wellington, FL, girls were killed and an 18-year old male was injured, March 30 as their vehicle crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer, sources told a rep. The truck accidentoccurred at approximately 9:40 p.m.in Glades, FL, as the teens approached the intersection of County Road 880 from eastbound Southern Boulevard. It was at this precise moment that a tractor-trailer hauling lettuce was crossing that intersection. The teens drove into the rear corner of the semi-trailer, and the Toyota Camry rolled over and the front passenger section of the vehicle where the two teens were riding was severely damaged.

A Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) spokesman revealed to a reporter that although the investigation into the crash is continuing, they have discerned some facts in the case. The teens were miles away from where their parents thought they were. The truck driver from Long Island did not stop at the accident scene. The 72-year old truck driver was stopped at about 10:30 p.m. in Marion County and stated that he was unaware of the accident. The FHP troopers who inspected the semi-trailer stated that marks on the trailer were consistent with damage from the crash. Troopers did state that it is possible that the truck driver did not know of the crash.

The surviving teen from Brooklyn was airlifted from the crash site to St. Mary’s Medical Center where he was being treated for non-life threatening injuries, sources explained to a doctor. His injuries were not as severe as was originally thought.
